Council Proposes a Resolution to Prevent BPD from Doxxing Demonstrators
September 12, 2018
During tomorrow’s Berkeley City Council meeting, the council will discuss BPD’s decision to publish the names and photographs of anti-fascist demonstrators who were arrested at the alt-right rally on August 5. This unusual tactic is essentially DOXING – publishing personal info online that can be used by fascists to harass and abuse people. This kind of collaboration with fascists is outrageous.
Councilmembers Davila and Harrison have proposed a resolution that would prevent the BPD from posting photos of people arrested on social media or email unless they pose an imminent threat to public safety. Come to tomorrow’s meeting to speak out in favor of Item 29 so this doesn’t happen again. Thu 9/13 @ 6p, 2134 MLK Jr. Way, Berkeley.
