Say NO to Proposed Policies that Criminalize Homelessness
Mayor Jesse Arreguin and Councilmember Sophie Hahn are recommending policy that will further criminalize homelessness without offering any services that would actually reduce the harms of homelessness. They want to hide the problem instead of solving it.
TONIGHT Berkeley City Council is holding a special meeting to discuss these proposed sidewalk regulations tonight. Please come to the meeting to SPEAK OUT against these harmful policy proposals. Public comment is typically held at the beginning of the meeting.
There are already an incredible number of policies and ordinances that regulate where homeless people can be and when - and those regulations aren't effective in preventing or reducing homelessness. Getting involved with the criminal justice system only makes homeless people's lives more precarious.
We don't want policy that will criminalize homelessness. We want HOUSING and SERVICES.
TONIGHT April 26 at 6p Longfellow School Auditorium 1500 Derby Street, Berkeley, CA
