Copwatchers Wear Spit Hoods During City Council Meeting to Protest their use by the Berkeley Police

Last night, Berkeley City Council heard from a psychiatrist and various mental health care providers that the use of the "hooding" techniques can compound the impacts of trauma. Police really had no experts, no research and no real justification for making detainees wear hoods. Even still, Council voted not to ban hooding because...cops don't want to RISK someone spitting on them

I am so proud of Councilwoman Davila who wore a spit hood in solidarity with the Copwatchers who stood for 4 hours with signs and wearing hoods to demonstrate how dehumanizing they are.
